Picture a huge poster with images of ads for Camel Snus blocked out by stickers with the Meltdown logo. It's a pretty powerful visual, and something a little different than the traditional way Y-Sters have been collecting Measures of Progress for the Meltdown Campaign…
For Kick Butts Day, Y St. is creating huge 6-feet tall wall posters with images of the Camel Snus ads that we are speaking up against with the Meltdown Message Stickers. Y-Sters will hang the poster somewhere prominent in their schools--the cafeteria or main hallway--from Monday, March 22 to Wednesday, March 24 (Kick Butts Day). During those 3 days, Y-Sters will collect Meltdown Message Stickers from classmates and teachers, and in exchange give out a Cover-up Sticker that that person will stick on the huge poster to "cover up" the Snus ad images. The idea is that by the end of the 3 days, Y-Sters will have collected 300 Message Stickers, and in turn, their giant poster with Snus ad images will be covered up with 300 Cover-up stickers. The Cover-up stickers will have a space for people to write their name--essentially like a pledge wall--but with much more impact.
We’ll feature pictures of the final posters on the Y St. website. If you are interested in leading a Kick Butts Day event at your school, click here to sign up on Helix, and contact your Project Coordinator right away!
