Hi, fellow Y Street members! My name is Jaila. I attend Brunswick High School and I am in the 12th grade. I am honored to write about Brunswick’s SECOND Rev Your Bev event this year featuring Russell Middle School!
Taking this event to the middle school was a great opportunity to educate younger students about the importance of healthy hydration. Rev Your Bev’s goal is to get schools pumped about drinking water and the students really showed out! At the event, we went around during a wave of lunches educating students and staff about the whole purpose of Rev Your Bev and how drinking water can benefit your day-to-day life and body as a whole! We asked them to fill out a survey to share their beverage preferences and water consumption. During the event, I also got the wonderful opportunity to speak with incoming freshmen on how they can make an impact by joining Y Street and getting involved in our campaigns like Rev Your Bev!
Personally, Rev Your Bev has made me take water very seriously! Water plays such a key role in our lives. I thoroughly enjoy drinking water. Y Street and Rev Your Bev have me excited to raise awareness and get others excited to drink water! Students seem really passionate about adopting healthier drinking habits, which is great to see. As this is my last year at Brunswick, I hope we can support our school by creating easier access to water hydration stations and promoting reusable water bottle usage through the adoption of Rev Your Bev’s model policy!
